Priesthood of All Believers
I’m a firm believer in 1 Peter 2:9-10 (ESV) which says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”
That said, I know that God can use anyone to do anything, absolutely regardless of earthly credentials. If God’s calling you to do something, go for it!
With that though, I know there’s also value in training and preparation and connection. So if you’re curious about our denominational affiliation and staff credentials, we’ve detailed that below.
The Brethren Church
ChristCore Brethren Church is an official “church plant” of The Brethren Church denomination. It’s pretty standard Christianity (with a couple key emphases), and you can learn more about them at The Brethren Church.
Paul and Micaela Lattimer were officially commissioned by 5 Stones Community Church (another Brethren congregation) in Ashland, OH, to move to Columbus, OH, to plant this church. We’re also in fellowship with our sister/parent churches of Smithville Brethren Church, Smoky Row Brethren Church, and Agora Church (who is currently letting us use their space - thank you so much!)
Pastor and Lead Planter Paul Lattimer has a Master of Arts in Practical Theology from Ashland Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion with Honors Program Completion and Minors in Mathematics and Psychology from Ashland University. He is the author of Sacred Metalcore and LionHeart and also the vocalist of Ad Effectum and Post Quam.
Co-Planter Micaela Lattimer has a Bachelor of Science in Education with a licensure in Intervention Specialist. She also did a guest vocal spot on a Post Quam track. ;)
